Elena Gilbert is a fictional character from the popular TV show "The Vampire Diaries." She is portrayed as a compassionate and kind-hearted high school student who becomes entangled in a love triangle with two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Throughout the series, Elena is depicted as a strong-willed and resilient character who faces numerous challenges and supernatural threats. Her character is central to the show's storyline and is known for her bravery and selflessness. **

Elena Gilbert's character in "The Vampire Diaries" can be seen as both selfless and selfish at different points in the series. While she often puts the well-being of her friends and loved ones above her own, she also makes decisions that prioritize her own desires and needs. For example, her romantic relationships and the choices she makes to protect her loved ones can be seen as selfish at times. Ultimately, Elena's character is complex and can be interpreted in different ways depending on the perspective of the viewer. **
