Seaweed salad is generally considered to be a healthy food option. Seaweed is low in calories and fat, but high in essential vitamins and minerals such as iodine, calcium, iron, and magnesium. It is also a good source of fiber and antioxidants. However, the healthiness of seaweed salad can vary depending on the ingredients used in the salad dressing, such as added sugars or high amounts of sodium. Overall, when made with fresh seaweed and a light, healthy dressing, seaweed salad can be a nutritious addition to a balanced diet. **

Seaweed can have a fishy taste because it contains compounds like trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) and dimethylsulfide (DMS), which are also found in fish. These compounds are responsible for the characteristic smell and taste of fish. When seaweed is harvested from the ocean, these compounds can be transferred to the seaweed, giving it a fishy flavor. Additionally, seaweed is often used in seafood dishes, which can also contribute to the association of seaweed with a fishy taste. **
